More than 19,000 New Enterprises Established in Morocco

The Moroccan Office of Industrial and Commercial Property recorded the establishment of a total of 19,565 new enterprises in Morocco by the end of February 2025. This number includes 13,998 legal entities and 5,567 sole proprietorships.

According to the business establishment barometer, the trade sector accounted for the largest share, with 36.2% of the total new enterprises established, followed by the construction and public works and real estate sectors at 20.05%, and various services at 17.18%. The industries sector made up 7.52%, transport 7.49%, while hotels and restaurants constituted 5.12%, information technology and communications 3.16%, agriculture and fishing 1.78%, and financial activities 1.51%.

The Casablanca-Settat region topped the list in terms of new enterprises, with 6,381 entities, followed by the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region with 2,528, and the Rabat-Salé-Kenitra region with 2,405. The Marrakech-Safi region registered 2,198 enterprises; Fez-Meknes recorded 1,387; and Souss-Massa saw 1,342, while the remaining regions recorded numbers ranging from 1,142 to 154.

The report indicated that the most preferred legal form was the single-member limited liability company, accounting for 65.9%, followed by the limited liability company at 33.6%, while the share of joint-stock companies did not exceed 0.1%. This reflects the majority’s preference for simpler and more flexible establishment models.
