A formal meeting took place between Ahmed Nihad Abdel Latif, the Egyptian Ambassador to Morocco, and Amina Bouayach, the President of the National Human Rights Council.
The Egyptian Embassy in Rabat stated in a publication that “the meeting discussed aspects of cooperation between Morocco’s National Human Rights Council and Egypt’s National Council for Human Rights, through the exchange of visits and experiences.”
It was emphasized that the Moroccan official “reviewed the tasks and activities of the council she leads, concerning all issues related to defending and protecting human rights and freedoms, ensuring their full exercise, and promoting them, including providing advice and recommendations to the government and parliament in the field of human rights, at their request or initiative.”
For his part, the Egyptian ambassador in Rabat “highlighted the significant developments in the field of human rights in Egypt, especially regarding efforts to implement the National Human Rights Strategy.”
The embassy’s publication noted that Nihad Abdel Latif “congratulated Amina Bouayach on her reappointment to her position and on her election as President of the Global Alliance of National Human Rights Institutions.” During the bilateral meeting, the officials also visited the facilities of the CNDH, located in the capital, Rabat.
