Moroccan artist Latifa Raafat has announced her decision to take legal action against journalist Hamid Mehdaoui, accusing him of “defamation, threats, and incitement,” and affirming her commitment to pursuing the case to its conclusion.

Raafat clarified in recent statements that her previous remarks were not directed at Saeed Nasiri, the former president of Wydad Athletic Club, but were part of a testimony in which she stated that Nasiri was a friend of her late husband, Hajj Ben Brahim, and would visit their home or meet with him on special occasions.

She indicated that her marriage to Hajj Ben Brahim did not entail any of the issues being circulated concerning “drugs or suspicious money,” asserting that she saw nothing of the sort either from her ex-husband or Saeed Nasiri, adding that she did not see money despite the presence of luxury cars.

Raafat linked part of her divorce from Hajj Ben Brahim to the issue of “mysterious money,” saying she had inquired about the source of funds and their absence despite appearances, only to be met with strange accusations like “you want to cast a spell on me.” She emphasized that she chose to separate of her own accord, despite her husband’s objections.

The Moroccan artist also revealed the existence of audio recordings, stating that the person who recorded them is currently in custody. She claimed he had been luring her into conversations to extract specific sentences for the purpose of “blackmail,” indicating she would disclose details of these recordings to the public after the investigations are concluded.

She expressed hope for a direct confrontation with Saeed Nasiri in court, as she believes there are contradictions in his statements that she wishes to unveil.

Raafat stressed that she was not the reason for Nasiri’s imprisonment, adding, “Had I the power to imprison someone, I would have imprisoned Hamid Mehdaoui, who threatened and incited against me.”

In this context, Latifa Raafat expressed concern over the threats she received from some Wydad fans, stating that she has become fearful of moving around Casablanca for the safety of herself and her car, describing the situation as exhausting and intolerable.
