The Egyptian-Moroccan Investment and Trade Forum commenced yesterday in Cairo, attended by officials, economic actors, and business leaders from both countries.

The forum, held under the slogan “Broad Economic Partnership,” takes place during the visit of Omar Hajir, the Secretary of State to the Minister of Industry and Trade in charge of foreign trade, along with a prominent Moroccan economic delegation in Cairo from May 3 to 5.

The Moroccan Confederation of Exporters and the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises organized the delegation, in coordination with the Secretary of State for Foreign Trade.

This visit aims to enhance the presence of Moroccan products in the Egyptian market, targeting a total Moroccan export volume to Egypt of around 500 million dollars by 2026.

The Egyptian-Moroccan Investment and Trade Forum provides an opportunity for Moroccan and Egyptian companies to explore new horizons in fields with significant investment potential, as well as to open up new opportunities for Moroccan exporters to access the Egyptian market, alongside forming fruitful partnerships for both sides.

The forum features participation from Moroccan business leaders and companies working in a variety of export sectors, including agriculture, food industries, automotive, electrical and electronics, textiles, seafood products, energy and renewable energies, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, cosmetics, and construction sectors, among others.

During the forum, which was chaired by Omar Hajir and Hassan Khateeb, the Egyptian Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade, the extensive cooperation and integration potential between the two countries was emphasized, allowing them to open up to partnerships with other African countries.

The Moroccan economic delegation to Cairo follows the visit of the Egyptian Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Hassan Khateeb to the Kingdom on February 27, where he held discussions with Moroccan officials. During this occasion, both sides agreed to unify efforts to facilitate trade exchange between the two countries, increase the volume of Moroccan exports to Egypt, particularly in the automotive sector, and strengthen business partnerships and networks between private sector stakeholders from both nations.
