Juventus secures a tough qualification for next season’s Champions League.
Juventus qualified for the Champions League next season following a hard-fought 3-2 victory against Venezia on Sunday, which led to the latter’s relegation to the second division in the final round of Serie A.
Juventus needed a win to join champions Napoli, second-placed Inter, and third-placed Atalanta as Italy’s fourth representative in the Champions League, and they managed to achieve this.
The match proved challenging for Juventus before securing the three points that kept them one point ahead of Roma, who won their last match under veteran coach Claudio Ranieri against Torino 2-0. Juventus also maintained a five-point lead over Lazio, who fell to Lecce 1-0 at home despite having a numerical advantage throughout the second half, allowing the guests to stay in the top flight.
Roma will compete in the Europa League next season alongside Bologna, who claimed the Coppa Italia title. Meanwhile, Lazio paid the price for their defeat, as they even failed to qualify for the Conference League, being surpassed by Fiorentina based on head-to-head results after the latter’s 3-2 victory against Udinese, who were down to ten men.
