A moderate earthquake strikes the Rabat-Salé-Kénitra region
Seismological centers worldwide reported a 4.5 magnitude earthquake on the Richter scale today, Friday, in the Rabat-Salé-Kénitra region, specifically in the Sidi Abbo area of the Ramani commune in the Khémisset province.
The earthquake occurred at a depth of 23 kilometers at 12:16:44 PM local time, and was felt by many residents in nearby areas, especially in Ramani and nearby rural centers.
According to preliminary data provided by internationally recognized early warning applications, the tremor was classified as moderate and categorized as “perceptible shaking,” meaning it caused some items to move inside homes, without any reports of material or human losses so far.
Monitoring operations continue by the relevant authorities, amid widespread reactions on social media from local residents, many of whom reported feeling the tremor without any panic or confusion.
