The Criminal Court of Ain Sebaa in Casablanca sentenced several individuals involved in the case popularly known as the trial of the Gerando family, owners of the “Challenge” channel and relatives of the late billionaire Mustafa Aziz, to a total of 14 years in prison on Wednesday evening, alongside various fines.

The ruling included Jamila Gerando, who received a two-month suspended sentence and a fine of 20,000 dirhams, while her husband, Abderrahim Tahiri, was sentenced to three years in prison and fined 40,000 dirhams. Their son, Ahmed Tahiri, was sentenced to two years in prison with a similar fine.

The sentences also included Mourad Jumhour, who received one year in prison and a 40,000 dirham fine, alongside Abdallah Merzak, who was sentenced to three years in prison and fined 20,000 dirhams. Azize Abdelhadi was sentenced to two years in prison with a fine of the same amount, while the court sentenced Al Ayachi Al Haddad to three years in prison and a 20,000 dirham fine.

In the civil aspect of the case, the court rejected the civil claims presented by Hamouda Dali while accepting the claims made by Al Moutari and his wife. The court ruled that all three would receive a nominal compensation of one dirham against Jamila Gerando, Abderrahim, and Ahmed Tahiri. Additionally, other financial compensations were awarded, amounting to 100,000 dirhams against Al Ayachi Al Haddad, 300,000 dirhams against Merzak, and 500,000 dirhams against Azize Abdelhadi.
