The UAE Thwarts Weapons Smuggling to Sudan

The United Arab Emirates announced on Wednesday that its security agencies foiled an attempt to illegally transfer weapons and military equipment to the Sudanese army, indicating the arrest of members of a cell involved in brokering the operation.

The Emirates News Agency reported that Attorney General Hamad Saif Al Shamsi stated, “Investigations revealed the involvement of cell members with leaders of the Sudanese army, including the former director of the Sudanese intelligence agency Salah Gosh, a former officer from the agency, a former finance minister advisor, a politician close to (Sudanese army leader) Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, and (Assistant Chief of Staff of the Sudanese forces) Yasser Al-Atta, along with several Sudanese businessmen.”
