Palestinian Minister of Agriculture, Rizq Selmiya, praised the ongoing support provided by the Bayt Mal al-Quds al-Sharif Agency for Jerusalem farmers during a meeting in Rabat on Wednesday.
In a statement to the press following his discussions with Mohamed Salem Al-Charkawi, the agency’s managing director, Selmiya noted that this support primarily manifests in the care for olive trees, including the provision of equipment for olive harvesting and the promotion of products derived from these ancient trees in holy Jerusalem.
He continued that his discussions with Al-Charkawi focused on enhancing the agency’s support for Jerusalem farmers in various areas of production inputs, such as building irrigation water tanks and providing olive seedlings. He also highlighted that the meeting covered the future agricultural projects that the agency plans to launch in holy Jerusalem.
Expressing his gratitude to His Majesty King Mohammed VI, President of the Jerusalem Committee, for the support his Majesty provides to the Palestinian cause, the Palestinian minister commended Morocco’s generous and ongoing assistance to Palestinians across various sectors, particularly in health, education, and agriculture, whether in the Gaza Strip, northern West Bank, or holy Jerusalem.
Al-Charkawi also stated to the press that Minister Selmiya’s visit to the agency’s headquarters represented an opportunity to discuss ways to develop agriculture for the benefit of Palestinian farmers in holy Jerusalem and to establish concrete projects aimed at preserving the lands of Jerusalem residents, in addition to providing the necessary resources to enhance their agricultural activity in the sacred city.
The managing director of the Bayt Mal al-Quds al-Sharif Agency also emphasized that these discussions are anchored in the agency’s continued support for the agricultural sector in holy Jerusalem, specifically through the provision of equipment for olive harvesting and the care for olive trees, along with promoting products derived from these trees in holy Jerusalem.
Al-Charkawi pointed out that the agency has consistently been providing logistical support to Palestinian farmers in holy Jerusalem, backing project incubators for youth in areas of equipment and innovation, while offering modern techniques in irrigation and agriculture, as well as general care for plants.
It is worth mentioning that Selmiya is visiting Morocco to lead a Palestinian delegation consisting of ten companies participating for the first time in the International Agricultural Fair in Morocco, most of which operate in the date production sector.
