Moroccan Parliament Participates in the 30th International Book and Publishing Exhibition

The Moroccan Parliament, through its two chambers (the House of Representatives and the House of Councillors), announced its participation in the 30th International Book and Publishing Exhibition, held in Rabat under the auspices of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, from April 18 to 27.

In a statement, the Parliament mentioned that its participation in this cultural event for the fourth consecutive year is part of its commitment to strengthen communication channels and openness with citizens, as well as to establish a parliamentary culture that integrates the values of democracy and citizenship into the public sphere.

According to the statement, the Parliament’s pavilion will, similar to previous editions, host parliamentary simulation sessions for students representing student councils from various regions of the Kingdom, in a realistic experience mirroring the proceedings of general sessions, in partnership with the Ministry of National Education, Preschool Education and Sports, and in coordination with regional academies of education and training.

This educational and awareness initiative aims to bring young people closer to the mechanisms of legislative work and motivate them to engage in public discourse from an early age, contributing to the development of a new generation of citizens who are aware of their rights and duties and believe in the importance of political participation as a lever for comprehensive development.

As in previous editions, the same source indicated that a number of images, videos, publications, and documents highlighting key milestones of parliamentary work will be presented, which has accompanied the institutional, democratic, and societal development in Morocco from the establishment of the National Consultative Council in 1956, initiated by the late King Mohammed V, through the adoption of the first Moroccan constitution and the legislative elections that resulted in the first bi-cameral parliament in 1963 during the reign of the late King Hassan II, to the comprehensive and multidimensional reforms led by His Majesty King Mohammed VI.
