The International Monetary Fund (IMF) expects Morocco’s economy to grow by 3.9% in 2025.

Morocco is projected to record a growth rate of 3.9% this year and 3.7% in 2026, according to the IMF’s forecasts released on Tuesday.

The financial institution, in its latest update on the “World Economic Outlook,” anticipates that inflation will reach 2.2% in 2025 and 2.3% the following year.

According to these forecasts, published on the occasion of the IMF and World Bank spring meetings taking place from April 21 to 26 in Washington, the unemployment rate, which stood at 13.3% in 2024, is expected to decline to 13.2% this year before decreasing to 12.9% in 2026.

The IMF predicts that the country’s current account balance will stabilize at -2.0% in 2025, followed by -2.2% in the subsequent year.

In the Middle East and North Africa region, growth, which was 1.8% in 2024, is expected to rise to 2.6% in 2025, before jumping to 3.4% in 2026.

These forecasts represent a downward adjustment from the Fund’s previous estimates for this region issued last October, which indicated growth rates of 2.1% in 2024 and 4.0% in 2025.
