The Policy Center for the New South and the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences Strengthen Their Academic Cooperation

The Policy Center for the New South and the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, a leading institute in the humanities and social sciences, signed a memorandum of understanding in Rabat on Monday to deepen their academic cooperation.

According to a statement from the Policy Center for the New South, the agreement was signed by the Center’s CEO, Karim El Ayani, and the President of the Academy, Xiang Gao, in the presence of an official Chinese delegation and members of the management team of the Policy Center for the New South. This reflects a mutual commitment to enhancing academic cooperation between Morocco and China.

The memorandum also aims to establish strong bridges between researchers from both institutions on topics concerning China, Moroccan-Chinese relations, and African-Chinese studies.

Key areas of cooperation include joint research projects, shared publications, exchange of collaborators, skill enhancement mechanisms, exchange of documents and scientific information, and the joint organization of thematic seminars and conferences, as well as exploring new forms of academic partnerships.

The statement noted that the memorandum of understanding will be valid for an initial period of two years, with the possibility of renewal by mutual agreement, adding that this partnership represents a significant advance in strengthening academic ties between Morocco and China and paves the way for sustainable and purposeful cooperation in the coming years.
