Exclusive Investigation: The Weapons Lie in Tangier… How the Justice and Spirituality Movement Planned Chaos in the Name of Palestine?

The docking of the cargo ship “Nexus Maersk” at the Tangier Med Port has sparked widespread controversy in Morocco, turning into a catalyst for protests based on misinformation, amid accusations against the Justice and Spirituality Movement and the Justice and Development Party of fueling the situation.

Investigations revealed that the ship was not carrying any military cargo, but rather a completely civilian shipment. The “Green Justice” Foundation, an independent international organization specializing in tracking shipments and cross-border data, confirmed that the cargo was unrelated to any type of armament or Israeli entities. Shipping documents, port data, and the ship’s route were all available and transparent.

Despite the clarity of the information, the Justice and Spirituality Movement, supported by coordination with figures affiliated with the Justice and Development Party, intensified their mobilization through social media, accusing the state of facilitating the passage of military cargo to Israel. Coordinated calls emerged to protest and storm the port, an action that was not spontaneous but organized, raising questions about the real backgrounds behind it.

Informed sources described what occurred as a "political exploitation directed at public anger," driven by a partisan mentality seeking to regain a foothold in the political landscape after a sharp decline in popularity. Intriguingly, both organizations chose to ignore the nation’s interest and the calls for sanity, continuing to spread a dubious narrative while warnings escalated about mixing national issues with external movements. Calls to storm vital facilities, even under the pretext of "solidarity," represent a dangerous precedent and attempt to replicate the chaos scenarios seen in neighboring countries.

Conversely, observers note that using the Palestine issue has become part of the “victimhood strategy” adopted by the Justice and Spirituality Movement and the Unity and Reform Movement, the religious arm of the Justice and Development Party, intersecting with some left-wing factions. The goal is not to defend the cause but to use it as a cover for repositioning and casting doubt on state institutions. Multiple assaults and skirmishes targeting security forces while they performed their duties were also recorded, resulting in injuries among them. Furthermore, the presence of masked individuals at the protests raises suspicions about the nature of the movements and those behind them. Some slogans raised were not limited to solidarity with Gaza, but included phrases that directly attack state institutions and incite rebellion, representing a dangerous slip away from the framework of peaceful protest. These transgressions have revived the question of infiltration of demonstrations by parties seeking to create chaos under the guise of just causes.

The debate continues, but it is evident that what happened in Tangier transcends an isolated incident. It is a true test of the strength of the state in facing those attempting to breach national consensus under slogans that are not free from systemic political exploitation.
