In Sidi Slimane, equipment was distributed yesterday, Friday, for income-generating projects aimed at benefiting young people and local cooperatives. This initiative, overseen by the Governor of Sidi Slimane, Idriss Rubio, falls under the “Income Improvement and Economic Integration of Youth” program, one of the key initiatives in the third phase of the National Initiative for Human Development launched by His Majesty King Mohammed VI. The program aims to enhance the economic integration of young people and improve their living conditions.

This operation included 27 individual projects benefiting young people with innovative ideas and emerging cooperatives, with a total value of 2.79 million dirhams allocated under the “Support for Entrepreneurial Spirit Among Youth” framework, and five cooperative projects amounting to a total of 1.29 million dirhams within the “Income Improvement” framework. These initiatives were financed to support cooperatives’ dynamics and equip them with modern production and marketing tools.

Projects under the “Support for Entrepreneurial Spirit” framework encompassed public service sectors with eight projects, organization of events with five projects, food industries, textiles and sewing with four projects each, beauty and hairstyling with three projects, and one project each in traditional crafts, metalwork, bakery and pastries, audiovisual communications, car maintenance, and fast food.

Projects under the “Income Improvement” framework were distributed across sectors focused on the valorization of hive products, chicken farming, and production of local eggs, with two projects each, and carpentry and wood engraving with one project.

On this occasion, the governor praised the critical role of young people in achieving the desired development, emphasizing the importance of transitioning from financial support to ongoing accompaniment, training, and mentoring as essential conditions to ensure the sustainability of projects and achieve the anticipated positive impact at the local level. He also urged all stakeholders, including local authorities, elected bodies, and civil society actors, to join efforts in creating an inclusive economic system that enables youth to engage confidently and competently in productive, economic, and social life.

For her part, Amal Ben Abdi, the communication service manager at the Sidi Slimane provincial council, explained that the distribution of these projects culminates a series of phases experienced by the beneficiaries through the “Youth Platform,” where they received technical and financial support, alongside continuous training and accompaniment.

Ms. Ben Abdi noted in a statement to the Moroccan News Agency that this phase concluded with the distribution of project equipment to the beneficiaries to help them launch into the job market, indicating that they would continue to support the beneficiaries to ensure the sustainability of the projects and transform them into a nucleus for creating job opportunities for other young people.

Beneficiaries of this initiative praised the effective support provided by the “Youth Platform” to study their projects, put them on the right track, and equip them with the necessary technical and financial support and equipment to enter the job market and reduce vulnerability, towards building a better future.

This meeting served as an opportunity to celebrate the spirit of initiative and entrepreneurship among the region’s youth and to reaffirm the commitment of various stakeholders to support these new entrepreneurs for economic empowerment through tangible projects that reflect the grand objectives of the National Initiative for Human Development.

This activity is part of the ongoing efforts of the National Initiative for Human Development to promote an atmosphere of trust and optimism among Moroccan youth, activating the principle of “listening then acting.” This royal initiative represents a true lever for sustainable development, by providing individuals with the necessary resources to build a better future, reduce vulnerability, and achieve spatial justice.
