Rainfall in March and April Boosts Moroccan Reservoirs as the Water Season Approaches Stabilization

Rainfall in March and April Boosts Moroccan Reservoirs as the Water Season Approaches Stabilization
A A

March and April rains boost Morocco’s dam reserves as the water season approaches stability.

Moroccan dams have shown a significant improvement in their water storage levels, reaching a total of 6,417.31 million cubic meters as of Saturday, which is equivalent to 38.30% of the total dam capacity nationwide.

This percentage is expected to continue to rise in the coming days, thanks to substantial rainfall in several regions of the country during this period.

This improvement is also attributed to the abundant rainfall experienced last March, which had a clear positive impact on the dam reserves after a period of declining water storage.

According to data from the “Morocco Dams” platform, affiliated with the Ministry of Equipment and Water, the current filling rate reflects an increase of about 6% compared to the same period last year when it did not exceed 32.6%.

This rise indicates a positive start to a relatively better water season and raises hopes for an improvement in the situation of water resources in Morocco, which has been affected in recent years by consecutive drought periods.
