Morocco Under the Influence of a European Low-Pressure System

The General Directorate of Meteorology expects fluctuating weather conditions to continue at the beginning of this week, due to the influence of a low-pressure system extending from Western Europe, which is bringing cold and humid air masses toward northern Morocco. This will lead to weather disturbances, including rain and snow, as well as strong winds in several regions.

Hussein Youabed, the communication officer at the General Directorate of Meteorology, stated in a remark to Hespress that Monday will witness rainy conditions, at times with thunderstorms, in northern regions, including Tangier, the Rif, the Saïs, the Middle Atlas, the west, and Oulmes, in addition to light rainfall expected in the northern plains and the phosphates plateaus, with relatively strong winds and local sandstorms, especially in the southern provinces. Temperatures will range between 8 and 15 degrees in the mountains, while they could reach 32 degrees in the southeast.

For Tuesday, renewed rainfall is anticipated in the north and east, along with snowfall on the peaks of the High and Middle Atlas and the Rif mountains. Strong winds will impact the north and west of the country, and low temperatures could reach 0 degrees in some mountainous areas.

On Wednesday, light rains will continue in the north, accompanied by relatively strong winds and sandstorms in the east and south, with a drop in temperatures in the southeast.

Starting Thursday, as atmospheric pressure gradually rises, a noticeable improvement in weather conditions is expected, with weather stabilizing progressively in the south and center, turning sunny from Wednesday onward. Unstable weather is anticipated to continue, with scattered light rain and clouds in the north and in the Atlas mountains on Friday and Saturday.

Youabed added that winds will remain relatively strong in the southern provinces during this period, with temperatures rising on Thursday and Friday, followed by a gradual decrease at the beginning of next week.
