Morocco Issues Over 160,000 Electronic Visas in 2024

The Minister of Tourism, Handicrafts, Social Economy and Solidarity, Fatima Zahra Ammor, announced that more than 160,000 electronic visas were issued in 2024, covering citizens from 111 different nationalities, marking an increase of 6% compared to 2023.

During a session of oral questions in the House of Representatives on Monday, the minister explained that this positive development is part of the implementation of the strategic roadmap for tourism from 2023 to 2026, which aims to enhance the attractiveness of the Kingdom as a global destination, particularly through measures aimed at increasing the return rate of foreign tourists, which currently stands at 36%, compared to 34% before the pandemic.

Ammor confirmed that this rise is attributed to the diversification of tourism markets, especially by targeting new markets like the United States and Asia, in addition to establishing strategic partnerships and securing additional air routes that increased air transport capacity by 20% between 2023 and 2024, thus facilitating the flow of tourists to Morocco.

In the same context, extensive promotional campaigns have been launched, notably the “Morocco: Land of Lights” campaign, which included more than 20 tourist destinations within the country, making use of digital media and giant billboards in major world capitals to market Morocco as a destination rich in culture, beauty, and diverse nature.
