Moroccan and foreign contractors pursue Hicham Girando on charges of defamation and misleading information.

Moroccan and foreign contractors pursue Hicham Girando on charges of defamation and misleading information.
A A

Moroccan and foreign contractors are pursuing Hicham Girando with accusations of defamation and misinformation.

Legal confrontations are becoming clearer against Hicham Girando, a resident of Canada and a fugitive from Moroccan and Canadian justice, after a number of Moroccan and foreign contractors formally filed complaints against him. They accuse him of spreading false news, disseminating misleading information, and damaging their reputation through platforms he claims are media outlets.

According to informed sources, these complaints, presented to Moroccan courts as well as Canadian ones, come as a response to what the affected parties described as “systematic and malicious smear campaigns.” The goal is to undermine the image of companies contracted with the Moroccan state, inciting hostility against them using fabricated and misleading narratives.

The complaints directly accuse Hicham Girando of disseminating inaccuracies related to projects in the fields of construction and infrastructure, while implying the existence of corruption without providing any legal evidence. The affected parties believe the real aim of these allegations is to disrupt the business climate in Morocco and obstruct companies that contribute to the country’s development and operate within legal and transparent frameworks.

Legal defense sources confirmed that this step is part of mobilizing all legal means, domestically and internationally, to confront what they termed “media terrorism” hiding behind slogans of freedom of expression, but in reality, is nothing more than a tool for extortion and systematic targeting of economic institutions and public figures.

Notably, Hicham Girando is also facing criminal charges in Canada, according to legal documents, which adds to the seriousness of his actions and supports calls for accelerated legal processes against him at both national and international levels.

The increasing number of complaints against him, whether in Morocco or Canada, reflects a growing awareness of the need to protect the reputation of national institutions and not to allow space for deceivers and those lurking behind screens who attempt to undermine economic stability.
