Industry and Trade Minister Ryad Mezzour inaugurated a new production facility for “Asil” natural spring water yesterday, Tuesday, in the rural commune of Lqser in the Province of Hajeb. This initiative is part of an ambitious industrial project undertaken by “Baqshan Group Morocco”, through its branch, the Moroccan Global Environmental Consulting Company (MCEG), with a total investment approaching 150 million dirhams.

This project aligns with the group’s strategy to expand its activities in Morocco, focusing particularly on the food and agricultural industries, and to support the country’s industrial and food sovereignty, in accordance with the royal directives.

In a statement to the press, Ryad Mezzour affirmed that this industrial unit relies on modern technologies for water resource management and represents the first phase of a larger expansion project that will later contribute to diversifying products aimed at local and international markets. He also noted that Baqshan Group, which has been present in Morocco for over 25 years, currently provides more than 1,000 jobs.

For his part, the General Director of MCEG, Hafid Alaoui, emphasized the strategic importance of the project for the community and the region, highlighting that it will create around 300 direct and indirect job opportunities, both locally and nationally.

Alaoui explained that the project is based on three main pillars: innovation through the introduction of a bottle cap connected to the bottle, the first of its kind in the Moroccan water market; sustainability, through the use of solar energy to cover 40% of the factory’s needs, as well as the establishment of a wastewater treatment plant for reuse in irrigation purposes. He also mentioned that the total area of the project is 30 hectares, including 2 hectares for the industrial unit and 28 hectares for an adjacent organic farm using recycled water.

The production capacity of the new factory is 45,000 bottles per hour, marketing “Asil” water sourced from the Sebou basin, with future plans to increase production and expand the distribution network to cover various regions of Morocco.
