Strengthening Cooperation Between Morocco and France at the Heart of Bourita and Pécresse Talks

Enhanced bilateral cooperation was the main focus of discussions held yesterday, Tuesday, in Rabat, between the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccans Living Abroad, Nasser Bourita, and the President of the Île-de-France Region, Valérie Pécresse.

Following these talks, Pécresse stated to the press that Morocco will be the first country with which the Île-de-France Region will sign two cooperation agreements: one with the Casablanca-Settat Region and the other with the Marrakech-Safi Region.

In this context, she mentioned that the Île-de-France Region has already invested one million euros in projects in the Casablanca-Settat Region, indicating that her visit to Morocco will be an opportunity to inaugurate a large number of these “remarkable achievements.”

She reported that these projects cover areas such as digital training, training for unemployed youth, particularly in the catering sector, and business incubators.

She clarified that after Casablanca, she will visit Marrakech to review the results of post-earthquake support for the Al Haouz region and to sign a second partnership and cooperation agreement with the Red City.

Moreover, Pécresse asserted that the future of the southern regions can only be framed within Morocco’s sovereignty over its Sahara.

It is worth mentioning that Pécresse, accompanied by a significant delegation from the Île-de-France Region (Paris Region), is visiting Morocco from April 21 to 24, focusing on enhancing cooperation around “three common priorities,” which are innovation, education, and sustainable development.
