The 13th meeting of the Board of Directors of the National Road Safety Agency was held yesterday, Tuesday, in Rabat. The meeting focused on discussing several agenda items.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Transport and Logistics, the meeting, chaired by Minister Abdel Samad Kayouh, concluded with decisions made after deliberation and discussion among the board members. These decisions included the cancellation of competition request No. 01/W.W.S.T/2024 related to establishing and operating vehicle technical inspection centers, as well as the approval of the new management plan for the technical inspection sector for the period 2025-2028. This plan outlines the sector’s needs to improve technical inspection services and the geographic distribution of centers, with an addition of 240 new technical inspection centers to those currently operational in the sector.

Among the decisions taken, the same source adds, is the call for the National Road Safety Agency to take necessary measures to announce a new competition request for the establishment and operation of vehicle technical inspection centers, based on the results of the 2025-2028 management plan.

It was also decided to approve amendments to certain provisions of Article 2 of the joint decision between the Minister of Transport and Logistics and the Minister Delegate to the Minister of Economy and Finance responsible for the budget, issued on July 11, 2024, concerning the safe bus program, and to amend and supplement clause “V” of Article 2 of the same decision related to the program for renewing the road transport fleet.

The statement noted that these amendments, which will be published on the electronic portal for renewing the road transport fleet “PREPAC,” aim to simplify the implementation of the aforementioned decisions, in order to benefit a larger number of professionals in the road transport sector.
