Official French Visit to Morocco to Strengthen Economic Partnership and Leverage World Cup 2030 Opportunities
French Minister Delegate for Europe and Foreign Affairs, responsible for Foreign Trade and Attractiveness, Nicolas Forissier, arrived in Morocco for an official visit on April 2 and 3, 2026, accompanied by an economic delegation of about thirty French companies. This visit reflects the renewed dynamics of economic relations between the two countries.
The visit is part of efforts to enhance the bilateral partnership, with a particular focus on investment opportunities arising from Morocco’s hosting of the 2030 FIFA World Cup, seen as a pivotal project capable of stimulating economic growth and expanding industrial and trade cooperation.
On April 3, the minister visited the French Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Morocco, where he was received by prominent figures including French Ambassador to Morocco Christophe Lecourtier and Chamber President Sébastien Le Ponty, alongside officials, diplomats, and experts in economy, sports, and sustainable development, as well as representatives from Moroccan partner institutions.
This meeting served as a platform for exchanges with economic actors, highlighting the expertise French companies have gained in organizing major international events and showcasing partnership opportunities with the Moroccan market in light of the projects linked to the 2030 World Cup.
During his visit, Forissier held a meeting with the “Team France Export” team affiliated with the Chamber, where he was briefed on key projects and initiatives overseen by the team in Morocco. He received a comprehensive overview of the requests from French companies seeking to invest and establish partnerships with their Moroccan counterparts, focusing on five strategic sectors: industry and infrastructure, agritech, digital services, lifestyle and health, along with clean technology.
The minister also participated in a joint presentation discussing innovation support programs and the development of start-ups, led by William Simoncelle, head of French Tech Casablanca, and Jérôme Mouton, head of the chamber’s cluster, where mechanisms to support the emerging entrepreneurial ecosystem were highlighted.
At the end of the visit, the project “The House of the French Exporter and Investor in Morocco” was presented by the Chamber’s General Director, Jean-Charles Damblan, as a strategic initiative aimed at simplifying, accelerating, and securing French companies’ projects in Morocco through integrated support focused on achieving tangible results.
Observers confirm that this visit underscores France’s commitment to bolstering its economic presence in Morocco and reinforces the role of the French Chamber of Commerce and Industry as a key partner in supporting investments and facilitating access to the Moroccan market.
In this context, Sébastien Le Ponty stated that this visit represents “a strong signal of the dynamism in economic relations between the two countries,” noting that it reflects a shared desire to accelerate project timelines, particularly those related to large-scale initiatives, primarily the 2030 World Cup, which opens promising prospects in infrastructure, industry, and services.
He added that the Chamber, as the operator responsible for the “Team France Export” program in Morocco, plays a pivotal role in connecting French companies with available investment opportunities, guided by a practical approach focused on execution and achieving results.
