Nadia Fettah: Health is a Pillar for Economic Stability and a Compass for Development Model
Nadia Fettah confirmed that the health sector is no longer a separate entity, but has transformed into a fundamental driver for economic stability and development. She emphasized that finance ministers play a pivotal role in turning this approach into sustainable financing and tangible results for citizens.
During her participation in the high-level forum on sustainable health financing in Africa, held alongside the 58th session of the African Ministers of Finance, Planning, and Economic Development Conference in Tangier, Fettah noted that this approach represents a firm conviction for Morocco.
She added that under the leadership of Mohammed VI, the Kingdom has placed human capital at the core of its development model, with health being the cornerstone of this vision. This has translated into ongoing financial efforts, which expanded health coverage to nearly 88% of the population, benefiting over 32 million people.
The government official highlighted that this investment reflects improved access to nearby and affordable health services, supported by enhanced infrastructure and expanded national capacities. She also pointed out that Morocco is working to strengthen its health sovereignty by developing a robust pharmaceutical industry to ensure sustainable drug availability.
Fettah stressed that achieving these goals requires a clear methodology based on shared policy formulation, decision-making, and implementation with speed and effectiveness. She asserted that financial resources alone are insufficient, and that partnerships are essential for success.
