The Moroccan Ministry of Health and Social Protection has adopted a new structure aimed at enhancing the supply of medicines and strategic health products, while ensuring the protection of health data and information within the framework of the sector’s digital transformation.
Under this new structure, the Directorate of Medicine and Health Products Supply Strategy will supervise the provision of medicines and products that are difficult to supply to local health groups, especially in cases of total shortages or acute deficiencies, or during the declaration of an epidemic or national health crisis. This structure will also support national health programs and bilateral or multilateral international cooperation. Additionally, it will establish reference systems for the storage and distribution of medicines and coordinate with relevant authorities during crisis management and emergencies.
A decree has also established a Cybersecurity Directorate, responsible for setting strategic guidelines for the security of information systems within the ministry, ensuring the confidentiality and integrity of health data, and supporting the digital transformation in a secure and ethical manner, as well as inventorying and classifying information assets and monitoring cyber threats.
This organizational update is part of decree No. 2.25.615, issued on February 25, 2026, which defines the competencies of the administrative bodies within the ministry, including the General Directorate of Public Health, the General Directorate for Health System Support and Follow-up, the General Directorate of Social Protection, and the General Directorate of Information Systems and Digitalization, ensuring an effective and transparent management of the national health sector.
