Tangier: The Riads of Sultan Theatre Hosts the Third Edition of the “Jacaranda Spring Festival for Mediterranean Theatre” with a Rich and Diverse Artistic Program

Tangier is preparing to host the third edition of the “Jacaranda Spring Festival for Mediterranean Theatre” at the Riads of Sultan Theatre during April 2026, an artistic event that has established its position within the local cultural scene.

This festival is part of a vision focused on opening up and enhancing cultural dialogue between the shores of the Mediterranean, featuring a diverse program that includes theatrical and musical performances, as well as events aimed at young audiences, with the goal of supporting contemporary creativity and promoting artistic exchange.

The program kicks off on April 4 with a theatrical performance titled “Come – Yesterday,” presented by the Stars of Mdiq troupe and directed by Reda El Azmi. The play, blending poetry and surrealism, addresses issues of human relationships and their fragility.

On April 8, a children’s educational show titled “Our Future is Our Value,” presented by Idriss Karim, will interactively explore concepts of citizenship and social values.

Music will also play a prominent role in this edition, with artist Soumaya Ahmed performing “Fayrouziyat” on April 10 in tribute to Fayrouz and Ziad Rahbani. Moroccan musician Fattah Najadi will hold an experimental performance on April 17, supported by the Ministry of Youth, Culture, and Communication, reflecting the diversity of contemporary musical expressions.

In partnership with the Cervantes Institute in Tangier, the theatre will host a concert on April 24 featuring the duo Juan Hido and Adolfo Diaz, with a repertoire inspired by Mediterranean and Latin American music.

The festival will conclude on April 30 with the performance “Slow Fire,” directed by Hicham Ibn Abdal Wahab, which highlights human conflicts within a confined space.

Alongside the artistic performances, the theatre will organize training workshops aimed at various groups, including a workshop titled “From Writing to Screen” on April 23 and 24, conducted by director Hassan Lazuli, as part of the International Film Festival in Cape Spartel.

With this diverse programming, the Riads of Sultan Theatre reaffirms its position as an active cultural space that embraces creativity, training, and artistic interaction, contributing to enhancing the visibility of Tangier on both national and Mediterranean levels.
