Morocco Tops Africa in Travel Safety Ranking
Morocco has emerged as the safest African country for travelers, according to a recent report by HelloSafe on the “World’s Safest Travel Destinations.”
The kingdom scored 73.25 points on the safety index, ranking 42nd globally among nearly 193 countries assessed, thus surpassing other African nations in this field.
The report evaluates the level of risks travelers might encounter in various destinations, based on a set of criteria related to security and stability. These include crime and violence rates, involvement in armed conflicts, the quality of healthcare infrastructure, militarization levels, and risks of natural and environmental disasters.
Additionally, the ranking considers other indicators related to travel safety, such as cybersecurity and countries’ ability to face climate threats, relying on data from international institutions including the United Nations, the World Health Organization, and the World Bank.
On a global scale, Iceland topped the list of the safest travel destinations, followed by Singapore and Denmark, with European countries dominating the top ranks.
The report’s authors emphasized that the travel safety index does not measure the attractiveness of tourist destinations but focuses on assessing the risks travelers may face while on the move, making it an important reference for both travelers and insurance companies when selecting destinations.
