Mr. Amer explained in an interview with the Belgian French-language news platform “21News” that this partnership is built on solid foundations, rooted in a shared history, ongoing political dialogue, and dynamic economic cooperation, fueled by strong friendships at the highest levels.

He pointed out that Morocco is the only country on the southern shore of the Mediterranean that has a comprehensive partnership with Belgium, covering multiple areas, including political, economic, cultural, and humanitarian, as well as security, judiciary, and migration sectors.

He noted that the momentum initiated in recent years, which has significantly strengthened since 2023, has contributed to solidifying this distinguished partnership. He highlighted that the convening of the joint high-level committee in April 2024 revitalized dialogue mechanisms and led to the adoption of an organized roadmap.

He added that this momentum was further enhanced by the signing of the joint declaration in October 2025, which represented a pivotal moment in bilateral relations, establishing a shared vision of their strategic nature.

In the economic sector, the Moroccan diplomat emphasized the intensity of exchanges and promising development prospects, driven by opportunities related to the organization of the 2030 World Cup, energy transition, digitization, and water resource management.

He confirmed that the goal is to position Belgium among the top ten economic partners of Morocco in the coming years.

Regarding security cooperation, Mr. Amer stressed that it is one of the pillars of the partnership between the two countries, based on long-standing mutual trust, information exchange, operational and judicial coordination, and joint efforts against terrorism and extremism.

He pointed out that this cooperation is part of a broader framework represented by the strategic partnership between Morocco and the European Union, which is among the most advanced in the Euro-Mediterranean region, emphasizing Morocco’s central role through its internationally recognized expertise, which adopts a holistic approach combining prevention, anticipation, and field action.

The ambassador also highlighted the central role of the Moroccan community residing in Belgium in bilateral relations, describing it as one of the most important human pillars of the partnership between the two countries.

He explained that this community represents a real added value for both Morocco and Belgium, through its active contribution to the economic, social, and cultural development in both countries, embodying a successful model of a “win-win” relationship.

The ambassador concluded that all these indicators reflect that Moroccan-Belgian relations have reached an advanced level of maturity, characterized by regular political dialogue, multidimensional cooperation, and a shared vision that looks toward the future.
