Hicham Belakaoui, the Attorney General of the Kingdom at the Court of Cassation, met with French Minister of Justice Gérald Darmanin to discuss ways to enhance judicial cooperation between Morocco and France. The meeting took place at the headquarters of the Public Prosecution in Rabat.
This meeting aligns with ongoing efforts to strengthen international judicial partnerships and provided an opportunity to exchange views on mechanisms for developing cooperation in priority areas, notably combatting organized crime and transnational offenses, amid the increasing challenges posed by cross-border criminal networks.
Both parties discussed various issues related to international criminal cooperation, reviewing developments in the Moroccan legislative framework, particularly concerning the new Code of Criminal Procedure, which includes provisions related to special investigative techniques and enhancing the effectiveness of international judicial collaboration.
The importance of sharing experiences and expertise between the two institutions was emphasized, through the exchange of information, organizing mutual professional visits, and holding joint seminars and training courses aimed at strengthening the competencies of prosecutors and enhancing their capacities in the field of criminal justice.
This meeting comes as part of the Public Prosecutor’s strategy to broaden its openness to the international community and establish practical and sustainable cooperation with judicial partners, thereby ensuring community safety and improving the effectiveness of responses to various forms of crime.
