Signing Partnerships Worth 36 Million Dirhams to Support the Structuring and Digitalization of the Traditional Industry Sector

Lahcen Saadi, Secretary of State for Traditional Industry and Social and Solidarity Economy, chaired a ceremony in Rabat to sign a series of partnership agreements aimed at implementing the framework agreement related to the program for supporting and accompanying traditional industry chambers and their federation, signed in February 2025.

The signing was attended by several officials, including the Director General of the Digital Development Agency, representatives from SMAP EVENTS, as well as heads of traditional industry chambers and the Artisan House.

The first agreement, which involves the Secretary of State, the chambers of traditional industry, their federation, and the Digital Development Agency, aims to accelerate the deployment of digital services for the sector, notably the establishment of a professional card for artisans and the activation of the national registry for traditional industry.

An investment of around 36 million dirhams has been allocated for this initiative, aimed at achieving a qualitative leap in the digital transformation process, enhancing the governance of the chambers, and bringing services closer to artisans through a modern and integrated approach.

The second agreement aims to support the marketing of traditional industry products and rejuvenate it by opening new promotional avenues within exhibitions, particularly for members of the Moroccan community abroad, especially in France and Belgium, in addition to targeting real estate developers and professional visitors.

On this occasion, a special program agreement for the year 2026 was also signed between the Secretary of State, 12 regional chambers of traditional industry, and the Artisan House. This program focuses on financing and implementing a work plan centered on key areas, including the structuring of artisans within professional organizations, continuing the activation of the national registry, generalizing health coverage, and improving production quality and competitiveness.

In a speech during the event, Saadi emphasized that these agreements are part of a path towards integrated and comprehensive development of the sector, highlighting the economic, social, and cultural importance of traditional industry, considering its role in creating job opportunities and generating added value.

The government official, a member of Azilal Akhannouch’s cabinet, indicated that the priority of the Secretary of State’s programs is to modernize, organize, and enhance the performance of the chambers, in line with the provisions of the program contract signed in 2025, particularly concerning structuring, digitalization, and the creation of a new generation professional card.

He explained that the financial envelope allocated will allow for assessing the sector’s potential, simplifying administrative procedures for professionals, and equipping the chambers with necessary tools to accompany the digital transformation, contributing to the sector’s development and enhancing its contribution to wealth creation and job opportunities.
