Wahbi: Over 12,000 Active Real Estate Sale Cases and Courts Face Execution Challenges

Abdelatif Wahbi, the Minister of Justice, announced that Moroccan courts recorded 12,544 active cases related to real estate sales in 2024. The minister explained that the rate of enforcement of judgments issued in these cases does not exceed 26%, indicating a notable delay in executing real estate judicial rulings.

Wahbi added, during statements made before professional bodies, that the large number of active cases poses a real challenge, especially with the low execution rate. This situation necessitates strengthening follow-up mechanisms and procedures to ensure that judicial decisions are executed within reasonable timelines.

The minister emphasized the need to review certain procedures and measures to speed up the resolution and execution of real estate cases, facilitating the management of files related to real estate transactions, as part of the government’s efforts to improve the business environment and enhance trust in the judicial system.

Wahbi’s statements come as part of a comprehensive evaluation of the judicial situation in the field of real estate sales, amid calls for improving the judicial system and reducing case backlogs, particularly in light of the rapid economic and investment activity in the real estate sector.
