Decrease in Fish Landings at the Port of Moulay Bouselham by 4% Amid Decline in Mollusks and Crustaceans Values
Last January, fish landings at the Port of Moulay Bouselham fell by 4%, reaching 238 tons compared to the same period last year, according to the National Fisheries Office.
The report indicated a 19% drop in the market value of these landings, totaling approximately 12.31 million dirhams, down from over 15.25 million dirhams in January 2025. In terms of species, landings of pelagic fish increased by 29% to 66 tons, with an estimated value exceeding 1.37 million dirhams (+74%), while landings of white fish rose by 20% to 53 tons, valued at nearly 2.01 million dirhams.
Conversely, landings of mollusks decreased by 16% to 115 tons, valued at 8.47 million dirhams (-21%), and crustacean landings plummeted by 75% to 4 tons, generating revenue of 449,000 dirhams (-75%).
The office noted that the quantity of coastal and traditional fishing products marketed last January dropped by 21% to 24,151 tons, while their commercial value rose by 5% to approximately 1.48 billion dirhams.
