Alert Bulletin: Thunderstorms, Snow, and Strong Winds Affect Several Regions Until Thursday

The General Directorate of Meteorology has reported the expectation of significant weather disturbances across various areas of the kingdom, including heavy rainfall that may be thunderstorms, snowfall, a notable drop in temperatures, and strong gusts of wind. These conditions are set to last from today, Monday, until Thursday.

In an orange alert bulletin, the directorate indicated that several regions will experience heavy rainfall, sometimes reaching between 35 and 55 mm, particularly in the provinces of Azilal, Khénifra, Ifrane, Béni Mellal, and Al Haouz. Rainfall in Tiznit, Oujda-Angad, El Youssoufia, Al Hoceima, Nador, Driouch, Berkane, Safi, Essaouira, Al-Qala’a of Sraghna, Chichaoua, Khouribga, Khemisset, Fkih Ben Saleh, Hajeb, Sefrou, Taza, Guelmim, Sidi Ifni, and Taroudant is expected to range from 25 to 35 mm. This weather activity is anticipated to begin today at noon and continue until tomorrow, Tuesday, at 3 AM.

Significant snowfall is also expected, starting at elevations of 1200 meters, with thickness ranging from 20 to 50 centimeters in the provinces of Ifrane, Boulemane, Khénifra, Al Haouz, Tinghir, Taroudant, Ouarzazate, Midelt, Azilal, and Béni Mellal, beginning today at noon until tomorrow at 11 PM.

The directorate also noted additional snowfall expected at elevations of 900 meters, ranging from 5 to 15 centimeters in Taza, Chichaoua, Figuig, Driouch, Jerada, Taourirt, Sefrou, Al Hoceima, and Gharb, starting tomorrow at 6 AM until Wednesday at 9 AM.

Regarding temperatures, cold weather is predicted, with drops ranging from -4 to -10 degrees in several provinces, including Tinghir, Al Haouz, Azilal, Béni Mellal, Ifrane, Midelt, and Boulemane. Temperatures ranging from 0 to -4 degrees are expected in Jerada, Taourirt, Khénifra, Sefrou, Al Hoceima, Jerrada, Taza, Chefchaouen, Figuig, Chichaoua, Taroudant, and Ouarzazate from tomorrow until Thursday.

The directorate warned that there may be occasional strong gusts of wind, reaching speeds between 75 and 85 kilometers per hour in Boulemane, Midelt, Nador, Jerada, Figuig, Driouch, Al Haouz, Tiznit, Tinghir, Taroudant, Sidi Ifni, Ouarzazate, and Guelmim, starting tomorrow at 6 AM until Wednesday at 9 AM.
