The Royal Gendarmerie in the province of Safi foiled an attempt to smuggle a substantial quantity of hashish, approximately 1.5 tons, divided into 40 bundles, in the early hours of Friday morning, in the commune of Siham.
This operation forms part of the security strategy aimed at combating international drug trafficking via maritime routes and was carried out under the direct supervision of the regional commander of the Royal Gendarmerie in Safi, in close coordination with various specialized units.
According to available information, meticulous field investigations and continuous monitoring of suspicious activities along the coast led to the detection and seizure of this large shipment of narcotics, which appeared to be intended for smuggling by sea to foreign destinations.
Following the seizure of this significant quantity, a judicial investigation was launched under the supervision of the relevant public prosecutor’s office to identify all potential individuals involved in this case and to uncover the local and international extensions of the criminal network, with the aim of apprehending other accomplices and completing the legal procedures in progress.
This operation reflects once again the high level of vigilance and ongoing efforts by the Royal Gendarmerie to combat international drug trafficking networks, secure national coastlines, and protect the country from the risks posed by transnational criminal activities.
