The Interior Ministry confirms the sufficiency of supplies and market stability in preparation for Ramadan

On Thursday, January 22, 2026, the joint ministerial committee for market vigilance and supply tracking held a meeting at the Ministry of Interior’s headquarters to discuss the ongoing preparations for the holy month of Ramadan 1447 AH. This meeting falls within the framework of implementing the royal directives aimed at protecting citizens’ purchasing power, ensuring the availability of essential goods, and maintaining market supply.

The meeting was chaired by the Minister of Interior, with the attendance of the Minister of Economy and Finance, the Minister of Health and Social Protection, the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, Rural Development, and Water and Forests, the Minister of Industry and Trade, the Minister of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development, the Secretary of State in charge of Fisheries, along with the directors general of the Customs and Indirect Taxes Administration, the National Fisheries Office, the National Office for Cereals and Pulses, and the National Office for Food Safety. Additionally, governors and regional officials participated remotely, along with territorial officials and relevant decentralized services.

The meeting served as an opportunity to assess the supply situation and price levels, enhance coordination and monitoring mechanisms, intensify market oversight and control operations, and decisively combat all forms of speculation and price manipulation, as well as any illegal practices that might affect the rights of consumers or their health and safety, especially with the approaching month of Ramadan, which sees an increase in demand for several essential commodities.

Data presented from various ministerial sectors and institutions, alongside conclusions from reports compiled at the regional and local levels, indicated that national market supplies remain normal. The available stocks, along with expected production and supply in the coming weeks, are sufficient to meet consumption needs for various essential goods throughout Ramadan and the subsequent months, thanks to the proactive measures taken in coordination with economic actors.

The meeting also highlighted the positive impact of recent rainfall, which is expected to enhance the productivity of agricultural, pastoral, and livestock activities in both the short and medium term, thereby strengthening the capacity to supply markets with essential products. Additionally, the resumption of small pelagic fishery activities, following the biological rest period and prior to Ramadan, is anticipated to boost the supply of fish products that are widely sought after during this period.

Despite the promising indicators observed, the ministerial committee emphasized the necessity of continued vigilance and monitoring, as well as sustained mobilization by all stakeholders to ensure the regular supply of markets, improve the efficiency of production, distribution, and marketing systems, and mitigate price increases, alongside intensifying oversight operations to protect consumers’ purchasing power and ensure their health and safety.

In this context, strict instructions were issued to governors and local officials to enhance coordination and vigilance, monitor any potential supply or distribution disruptions, and address them with the necessary speed and efficiency. There is also a push to intensify the intervention of supervisory services against speculation, stockpiling, and clandestine trading, while activating deterrent measures against violators.

The Ministry of Interior also called for increased communication with consumers, professionals, and civil society actors through various media to raise awareness about the importance of adopting responsible consumption behaviors. This includes activating contact numbers and emergency response units at the regional and local levels, enabling citizens to report cases of fraud, supply shortages, or illegal commercial practices, and ensuring the swift and effective handling of complaints.
