The government allocates 368 million dirhams to support the social and solidarity economy

Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch announced that the government will allocate 368 million dirhams to implement the national strategy for the social and solidarity economy, aimed at supporting cooperatives and social enterprises, and enhancing training and support programs in this vital sector.

During a monthly oral question session in the House of Representatives on public policy, Akhannouch emphasized that the social and solidarity economy is a strategic pillar for creating job opportunities and combating various forms of social marginalization, and it contributes to the development of the productive fabric and social regions.

The Prime Minister noted that this sector has seen significant developments in recent years, currently encompassing about 63,545 cooperatives, with 22,914 cooperatives established between 2021 and 2025, engaging more than 878,000 members, of which women represent 34%. There are also 7,891 cooperatives led by women.

In this context of momentum, Akhannouch highlighted that the government has completed the preparation of a national program that contributes to financing development projects for organizations operating in the social and solidarity economy at the national level.

The program includes the rehabilitation, construction, and equipping of 325 cooperatives, in addition to the establishment of 100 new generation cooperatives, equipped with all the necessary resources to ensure a strong and sustainable launch.

This support comes at a time when Morocco is seeking to enhance the social sector as an important tributary to the national economy and achieve comprehensive development capable of accommodating youth and women while encouraging local entrepreneurial spirit.
