The General Directorate of National Security has categorically denied the rumors surrounding the alleged death of a guard at the Prince Moulay Abdullah Sports Complex. These claims were circulated on social media, suggesting a death resulting from a criminal assault, which the alleged victim was said to have been protecting during the Africa Cup of Nations final.

In an official statement issued on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, the Directorate confirmed that the national police had not recorded any fatalities among private security personnel or ball collectors, nor had any procedures been initiated regarding the examination of a body related to incidents of sports-related violence.

The Directorate explained that this information was thoroughly verified after reviewing various health institutions, effectively disproving the circulated claims.

Furthermore, the General Directorate of National Security emphasized that it had notified the relevant judicial authorities about these publications, which it described as false and misleading. It has requested their directives to open judicial inquiries to identify those involved in spreading and disseminating these rumors and to impose the necessary legal penalties against them.
