This announcement followed an atmosphere of widespread festivity in the capital, Dakar, where the president joined Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko and the jubilant crowds amid fireworks, horns, and drums, a scene that reflected the public’s joy over this continental achievement.
In a statement to the media, President Sall expressed that the joy is beyond words, noting the tension and excitement that filled the final match until its last moments. He praised the players for their remarkable performance, describing them as “nationalists” and “men of duty” on the field.
