Morocco Signs “Council of Peace” Charter in Davos in Presence of Trump and World Leaders

On Thursday, Morocco’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccans Living Abroad, Nasser Bourita, signed the charter for the establishment of the Council of Peace in the Swiss city of Davos, in the presence of U.S. President Donald Trump and several world leaders, representing His Majesty King Mohammed VI.

The signing ceremony took place as part of an international initiative aimed at promoting peace and stability globally. In his address during the event, President Trump stated that 59 countries participated in efforts to establish peace in the Middle East, asserting that the Council of Peace has the potential to become one of the most influential international bodies.

Trump noted that the council includes, in his words, “the best leaders in the world,” pointing out that the threats facing Europe, the Middle East, and other regions have begun to diminish, highlighting that the international situation was extremely complex just a year ago.

Regarding current international issues, the U.S. president announced that his country had eliminated Iran’s nuclear capabilities and discussed the Ethiopian Grand Renaissance Dam file, describing the situation as “difficult,” while affirming ongoing efforts to reach a resolution to the dispute.

On the Syrian issue, President Trump praised what he referred to as the “great achievements” of the Syrian president in his country, believing that lifting sanctions on Syria would offer it a chance to catch its breath and support stability.

The signing of the Council of Peace charter by Morocco, represented by its foreign minister, reflects the kingdom’s commitment, led by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, to support initiatives for peace and dialogue, and to enhance international cooperation in addressing global security and political challenges.
