Morocco and Kazakhstan Strengthen Bilateral Cooperation in Peace, Economic Development, and Cultural Fields
Andrei Azoulay, advisor to King Mohammed VI, praised the foreign policies and political reforms implemented by Kazakhstan, noting the conceptual convergence between the positions of Astana and Rabat in areas such as peacekeeping, tolerance, and intercultural dialogue, according to a statement issued by the Kazakh Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
This came during Azoulay’s meeting with the Kazakh ambassador to Morocco, Saulecol Saylaokiza, where both parties emphasized the evolving bilateral relations and the alignment of strategic interests between the two countries. The ambassador provided an overview of the major constitutional reforms announced by the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, underscoring the importance of continuing civilizational interaction between the two nations.
Azoulay highlighted Kazakhstan’s prominent role as a global platform for interfaith dialogue, notably through the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions. He praised the legacy of the philosopher and jurist Al-Farabi and its significance in promoting values of tolerance and moderate thinking amid global divisions and conflicts, while also commending President Tokayev’s initiative to disseminate Al-Farabi’s ideas internationally.
The statement indicated that both sides discussed Kazakhstan’s accession to the “Abraham Accords” and their recent participation with Morocco in the “Peace Council,” suggesting that this opens new avenues to enhance bilateral cooperation across political, economic, commercial, cultural, and humanitarian levels.
Furthermore, the meeting underscored the necessity to implement previous agreements based on the outcomes of visits made by the foreign minister and the speaker of the House of Representatives in 2025. This includes expanding the volume of trade, establishing continental transport and logistics routes, and launching joint investment projects, thereby strengthening ties between Morocco and Kazakhstan in various fields.
