Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita, held discussions yesterday in Rabat with Rémy Rioux, the Director General of the French Development Agency (AFD), focusing on ways to give a new practical boost to the renewed strategic partnership between Morocco and France.
During the meeting, Rémy Rioux emphasized the AFD’s full commitment to implementing what was agreed upon during the state visit of the French president to the Kingdom in October 2024, affirming that the current phase focuses on transitioning from political agreements to executing tangible development projects that address the priorities of the bilateral partnership.
Both sides paid special attention to the issue of the southern regions of the Kingdom, reaffirming the AFD’s support for structuring projects in the regions of Laayoune-Sakia El Hamra and Dakhla-Oued Ed Dahab. This direction aligns with France’s position supporting Moroccan sovereignty over the Sahara and the autonomy initiative, reflecting a clear intention to contribute to the economic and social dynamics in these regions and enhance sustainable development efforts.
