A British security delegation visited the Prince Moulay Abdellah Sports Complex in Rabat on Wednesday, January 14, as part of the Morocco-UK security cooperation program in preparation for the 2030 World Cup. They reviewed the various components of the security and public order protocol implemented by the Rabat Security Force during the upcoming football match between the Moroccan and Nigerian national teams, which is part of the semi-finals for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
The visit provided an opportunity to showcase the advanced level and accumulated expertise of the National Security services in managing security at modern sports facilities, particularly regarding the deployment of security teams and their electronic coordination, as well as the use of precise visual monitoring technologies to track crowd movement from entry to exit, all while maintaining a balance between sporting spectacle and strict adherence to internationally recognized security standards.
Earlier that same day, the British delegation also visited the African Security Cooperation Center in Salé, which facilitates operational coordination between Moroccan National Security forces and their counterparts from African countries participating in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, as well as representatives from Spain, Portugal, Qatar, and Interpol.
During this visit, the delegation observed advanced levels of professional coordination and proactive planning between Moroccan and African security agencies, contributing to organizing the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in an environment described as cosmopolitan, combining modern infrastructure and Moroccan hospitality with high professional security standards and effective capacity to ensure public safety.
The British delegation’s visit comes in the context of an international consensus on the success of the Moroccan model in securing major sporting events, a success attributed largely to Morocco’s commitment to enhancing international security cooperation mechanisms with police forces in friendly countries and specialized international organizations, thereby bolstering its readiness for upcoming football challenges, particularly the 2030 World Cup.
