The National Police Championship in Judo and Karate saw the participation of 32 security personnel.
In coordination with the Moroccan Police Sports Union, the Tangier Security Directorate organized the National Police Championship in Judo and Karate on Saturday at the covered hall of Ziyyat in Tangier. The competition featured over 32 employees from the General Directorate of National Security and the National Territory Surveillance Directorate, representing various security departments from across the country, competing in different weight categories. The closing ceremony was attended by the governor of the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region, the Tangier Security Chief, the president of the Moroccan Police Sports Union, and various security officials from regional departments in the north, along with the president of the Royal Federation of Karate and the vice president of the Royal Moroccan Judo Federation, and heads of the northern leagues for both sports.
The Tangier Security Chief emphasized that this championship is organized as part of the ongoing efforts by the Director General of National Security and National Territory Surveillance to support sports and promote values of discipline, sportsmanship, and fair competition among the institution’s members, in line with the directives of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist him.
The head of the regional administrative service added that organizing this championship reflects the commitment of the security institution and its interest in sports as a means to build strong and balanced personalities while honing talents, in harmony with the noble mission undertaken by the men and women of national security in service to the nation and its citizens.
He also highlighted that this event serves as an opportunity to enhance communication among participants from different security divisions and a chance to exchange experiences that contribute to the development of Judo and Karate within the ranks of national security, aiming to prepare a new generation of champions to represent the security institution at various national and international sports events.
In a press statement, the president of the Moroccan Police Sports Union confirmed that this initiative falls within the efforts made by the General Directorate of National Security and the National Territory Surveillance Directorate to support police sports. He noted that these activities serve as a motivator for all employees, both men and women, who provide services to the public at both central and local levels, emphasizing the significant role sports play in upholding professional ethics and enhancing a sense of belonging to the security institution that takes pride in serving the Moroccan citizen.
The final matches of the competition included performances by young and junior karate champions, which were well received by the attendees.
In conclusion, the governor of the region, the Tangier Security Chief, the officials from the Royal Karate and Judo Federations, and the president of the Moroccan Police Sports Union oversaw the presentation of medals and certificates of appreciation to the winners. Additionally, referees of the national championship and a former police karate champion, who has won medals in international competitions, were honored during the event.
