The Ministry of Health and Social Protection has launched the “Care 2026-2025” initiative, starting from November 15, 2025, until March 30, 2026. This initiative is in line with the directives of King Mohammed VI and aims to address the impacts of cold waves by ensuring healthcare services for residents in affected areas.

According to a statement from the ministry, the initiative covers 31 provinces across 8 regions, including Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima (Chefchaouen, Larache, Ouezzane, and Al Hoceima), the Eastern region (Figuig, Taourirt, Driouch, Oujda Angad, Jerada, Guercif, and Berkane), along with the Béni Mellal-Khénifra and Draa-Tafilalet regions.

The initiative will extend to the Fez-Meknes region (Boulemane, Sefrou, Ifrane, Taza, Taounate, and El Hajeb), Souss-Massa (Taroudant, Souss-Massa, and Tatta), and Marrakech-Safi (Al Haouz, Chichaoua), as well as Rabat-Salé-Kénitra (Khémisset).

The initiative aims to provide primary and preventive health services, intensifying the work of mobile medical units in areas threatened by severe cold, addressing health cases through specialized caravans and referral hospitals, and guaranteeing interventions in emergencies.

The initiative’s field objectives include equipping 523 health centers with human resources and medical supplies, executing 3,528 visits by mobile medical units in isolated areas, organizing 183 specialized medical caravans, and conducting mini-medical campaigns, alongside establishing a coordination system among different units to ensure effective interventions.

To implement the program, 2,817 health professionals, including doctors, nurses, technicians, and administrators, will be mobilized, alongside biomedical equipment that includes mobile ultrasound units, mobile laboratories for analyses, dental tools, and vision measurement devices.

The ministry has allocated a budget of approximately 11.320 million dirhams for medicines and health supplies, and 2.582 million dirhams for covering fuel and maintenance costs, while the final cost for managing hospital centers will be determined based on the needs of each province.

The statement emphasized that the ministry will continue to mobilize various partners, including local authorities, elected municipalities, the private sector, and civil society organizations, to ensure the success of the initiative, underscoring the pivotal role of governors and local officials in supporting these interventions.
