The AI Industry in China Exceeds $170 Billion

The Chinese Academy of Information and Communications Technology, a research institute under the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, has reported that the core artificial intelligence industry in China is expected to surpass 1.2 trillion yuan (approximately $170 billion) by 2025.

During a recent industrial forum held in Beijing, the academy noted that artificial intelligence technology has reached a pivotal turning point, accelerating its transition from mere technological innovation to tangible productive forces.

The institute highlighted significant updates in large AI models this year, with their capabilities in language and multimedia comprehension improving by 30% and 50%, respectively.

The sector of embodied intelligence—which integrates artificial intelligence with robotics—has also experienced rapid growth, receiving funding exceeding 40 billion yuan and involving over 350 companies across the industrial chain.

In addition to artificial intelligence, the Chinese Academy of Information and Communications Technology presented a roadmap for next-generation connectivity during the forum, forecasting that China will launch commercial sixth-generation applications by around 2030, with widespread adoption expected by 2035.
