Taounate: An Exceptional Achievement for the National Initiative for Human Development with Investments Exceeding 744 Million Dirhams

The headquarters of the Taounate Provincial Council served as a platform yesterday, Monday, to showcase the developmental pathway charted by the National Initiative for Human Development during its third phase. The provincial governor, Abdelkarim El Ghanami, chaired the regional human development committee meeting to present the results achieved between 2019 and 2025, with the attendance of various institutional stakeholders, elected officials, and representatives of civil society.

At the outset of the meeting, the provincial governor highlighted that this phase, which began under royal directives, has successfully established a comprehensive and innovative approach that places human capital at its core. He noted that field efforts have produced tangible results, including the enhancement of infrastructure, support for vulnerable groups, improvements in schooling indicators, and maternal and child health, as well as creating new opportunities for youth through economic integration.

The figures reveal the extent of the developmental leap experienced in the region, with a total of 1,802 projects completed or planned during this period, with an overall financial envelope approaching 744.5 million dirhams. These investments were distributed across four strategic areas aiming to reduce social disparities and stimulate local growth.

The program aimed at addressing infrastructure deficits and essential services in the least equipped regions accounted for the lion’s share of the investment, executing 531 projects with an allocation of approximately 313.6 million dirhams. This was followed by the fourth program dedicated to enhancing human capital for emerging generations with 480 projects costing 303.2 million dirhams, highlighting a significant commitment to building a future for children and youth in the region.

In terms of economic empowerment, the third program focused on improving income and integrating youth brought 621 projects to fruition, costing 84.7 million dirhams. Meanwhile, the second program, which supports individuals in vulnerable situations, saw 170 projects and initiatives with a financial envelope of about 44.2 million dirhams, contributing to enhancing the social safety net and improving the living conditions of the targeted groups.

At the conclusion of this evaluative meeting, the provincial governor emphasized the need for continued collaboration among all stakeholders to ensure the alignment of public policies, stressing the importance of accelerating the implementation of remaining projects and adhering to established standards to ensure the sustainability of the developmental impact of this ambitious royal initiative, which has made Taounate a model of committed social and economic dynamism for human development.
