South Korea Aims to Strengthen Trade Links and Supply Chains with African Countries
Park Young-sung, South Korea’s Deputy Minister of Trade, stated on Monday that Seoul will seek to sign trade agreements with African countries, in addition to working on enhancing supply chain links for critical minerals and manufacturing.
According to a report by the Korea Herald, during his opening speech at the Korea-Africa Forum on Trade and Industrial Cooperation, Song remarked, “In light of the challenges in the global trade environment, cooperation between Korea and Africa is a wise choice that can boost growth for both sides and transform crises into opportunities.”
The Deputy Minister of Trade added that “the government will actively seek to sign agreements with African countries and strengthen cooperation in supply chains within the important metals and manufacturing sectors.”
The forum in Seoul was attended by around 100 officials from both sides, including foreign envoys from 12 African countries and business leaders, according to the Korean Ministry of Trade, Industry and Resources.
