Royal Air Maroc and Malaysia Airlines Strengthen Air Connectivity Through Codeshare Agreement

The two national carriers, Malaysia Airlines and Royal Air Maroc, are enhancing their international collaboration by signing a codeshare agreement as a strategic step aimed at expanding travel options and improving air connectivity between Africa, Europe, and Asia, benefiting from their shared membership in the Oneworld alliance.

This agreement includes flights connecting Casablanca to Kuala Lumpur via major international hubs such as Doha, London, and Paris, providing travelers with greater flexibility in planning their journeys and benefiting from an expanded network of airlines. Under this partnership, Royal Air Maroc will place its “AT” code on flights operated by Malaysia Airlines between Kuala Lumpur and Doha, London, and Paris, while Malaysia Airlines will add its “MH” code on flights operated by Royal Air Maroc between Casablanca and these capitals.

In a statement regarding the occasion, Datuk Captain Izham Ismail, Managing Director of Malaysia Airlines Group, noted that this partnership represents a significant milestone in the strategy to develop the company’s network and strengthen its global presence through effective strategic partnerships. He emphasized that leveraging the capabilities of two airlines under the Oneworld alliance will allow for network expansion and provide better, more flexible, and comfortable access for travelers, while ensuring a seamless travel experience that reflects Malaysia’s distinguished hospitality traditions.

For his part, Hamid Addou, CEO of Royal Air Maroc, stated that this strategic collaboration marks an important step toward developing the network of long-haul destinations in Asia, solidifying the national carrier’s position as a key link between Africa, Europe, and Asia.

He highlighted that the agreement will enable customers to travel to major Asian destinations under conditions defined by flexibility and high quality, reflecting the company’s commitment to enhancing its global presence and responding to the growing expectations of travelers.

This partnership marks the beginning of a new phase of cooperation between the carriers, amidst a continuous growth in travel demand between Africa, Europe, and Asia. It is expected to contribute to expanding the air connectivity framework through Casablanca and Kuala Lumpur, offering a wider range of destinations and smoother travel options.

It is worth noting that both Royal Air Maroc and Malaysia Airlines are members of the Oneworld alliance, which comprises a global network of over 900 destinations, providing travelers with harmonious travel benefits and comprehensive services across member airlines.
