Seizure of Over 64,000 Psychotropic Pills in Melilla Border Attempt

The regional judicial police in Nador launched a judicial investigation early on Saturday, December 6, after thwarting an attempt to smuggle a significant quantity of psychotropic pills amounting to 64,922 tablets of “Rivotril” at the Melilla border crossing.

This intervention occurred following joint monitoring procedures between national security and customs services, which led to the arrest of a vehicle with foreign plates driven by a Moroccan citizen. The inspection resulted in the discovery of the concealed shipment carefully hidden within the vehicle.

According to available information, the 42-year-old suspect has been subjected to judicial proceedings to determine the extent of this operation and to investigate its potential connections to drug trafficking and psychotropic substances. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend all those involved in this criminal activity.
