Celebrating the Winners of the National Prize for Visual Arts
Last Thursday evening in Rabat, the winners of the fourth edition of the National Prize for Visual Arts were crowned.
The National Prize for Visual Arts in the painting category was awarded to artist Rahma Al-Hosaik (Excellence Prize), while Iman Salmi secured the second place (Distinction Prize). The third place was jointly awarded to Ikram Al-Takmi and Ayoub Shaba (Encouragement Prize).
In the photography category, Meloudi Setira took first place, with the second and third places going to Abdelrahman Dukan and Ismail Jaddi, respectively.
The jury of the “National Prize for Sculpture” withheld the first and second prizes, while the third prize was awarded to Abdel Haq Al-Mutqi.
Hicham Abkari, Director of Arts at the Ministry of Youth, Culture, and Communication, stated to the Moroccan News Agency that organizing the National Prize for Visual Arts is part of the sector’s strategy to highlight the creative talents of Moroccan youth in this field.
Abkari emphasized that the National Prize for Visual Arts opened its doors to creators from all regions of the Kingdom, with initial competitions held at regional meetings organized by the ministry at each regional directorate. The winners of the top positions in these sessions then compete nationally for the National Prize.
For his part, photographer Meloudi Setira, who won first place in the photography category, mentioned that his works are part of an artistic project he began six years ago, addressing issues of drought and water scarcity. He indicated that the photos he participated with primarily aim to raise awareness about the importance of water conservation, as it is a vital element for sustaining life.
The National Prize for Visual Arts aims to motivate artists, encourage initiative and innovation, as well as discover and nurture promising national talents from the youth, providing them with financial and media support.
