The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced a record number of broadcast rights partnerships, totaling 20 media agreements covering more than 30 European countries, ahead of the Total Energies Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco 2025. This unprecedented move ensures wide viewership and unprecedented access to the tournament for millions of football fans across the European continent.

The Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025 is set to kick off on Sunday, December 21, 2025, featuring 24 teams competing in 52 matches across nine stadiums.

This record number of broadcasting agreements in Europe reflects the growing global appeal and rising commercial value of the Africa Cup of Nations, alongside the prominent position African football has achieved on the international stage.

These expanded media rights will enable a vast audience, including African communities residing in Europe, to follow the tournament live. It aligns with CAF’s strategy to broaden reach, enhance media presence, and elevate the commercial value of African football globally.

This development follows a historic agreement with British Channel 4, which will broadcast all 52 matches of the tournament for free, a first in the United Kingdom. CAF has also entered into a new agreement in Spain with Movistar, one of the country’s leading sports networks, benefiting from the strong presence of the Moroccan community and the deep-rooted connections between Spanish football and the Africa Cup of Nations.

In a notable step, the tournament will return to Greek television through a new agreement with public broadcaster ERT, ensuring nationwide coverage for the first time in years. Additionally, the competition will be broadcast for the first time on a free channel in Norway, thanks to a partnership with VGTV.

Channels such as Sport Italia in Italy and Ziggo Sport in the Netherlands are expected to boost viewership, particularly in light of large Moroccan communities and notable Moroccan stars in the Dutch league. SportDigital will also continue to broadcast matches in German-speaking regions (Germany, Austria, and Switzerland), where it recorded high viewership in past editions.

The list of European partners for broadcasting the Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025 includes media channels and platforms from several countries, including the United Kingdom, Spain, France, Italy, Portugal, the Netherlands, Norway, Greece, Turkey, Poland, as well as Eastern European and Balkan countries.

The facilitation of these agreements was made possible through a partnership with IMG, the international rights agency for the Confederation of African Football.

These extensive partnerships confirm that the Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025 is poised to become one of the most-watched editions in the tournament’s history, enhancing the visibility of African football and cementing its growing presence on the global sports map.
